Weir Legal and Consulting are often engaged by government to undertake reviews, and assessments. These projects can involve research, review of detailed documentation, interviews, stakeholder consultation, surveys, workshops, legislative comparisons, benchmarking and complex analysis tasks. We write concise, clear reports and where requested make findings and recommendations to enable our clients to understand complex issues and enhance their practices.
We take our role as independent advisors on these projects very seriously. Sometimes clients engage us, not because we have worked extensively in their sector but because we are regarded as having a deep expertise in government regulatory frameworks and decision making practice and procedure. Other times we are engaged because of our expertise in a particular sector. Often the subject matter of these projects is sensitive and we are experienced in structuring projects to ensure high levels of engagement and communication so that any consequences of our work are well understood and managed.
Our work in this area has included acting for multiple governments and preparing reports that may be tabled in parliament as part of a panel of experts. For further details of reviews that have resulted in published reports see Our Services – Building Regulation. Most of the reviews we are involved in do not result in published reports.
Our reviews and assessments have related to a very broad range of government bodies and sectors such as building regulation, education, climate change and environment related laws, water, health and human services, intellectual property.
